Disposable Lighters :)~

There's a world of difference between truth and facts, facts can obscure the truth.(Maya Angelou)
It's no wonder that truth is stranger than fiction. Fiction has to make sense. (Mark Twain)

One brand 1.825 billion units sold in a year and in ten years 1.82500 (eighteen billion two hundred fifty million)
1.82500 billion multiplied by 20 (thirty-six billion five hundred million)

We must have come to that point :glasses where as, the amount of lighters decomposing (500 years) is equal (roughly) to the number sold annually worldwide :indifferent

A weather report says that the :earth could warm up to 4c/39 Fahrenheit in the next 100 years - and up to 9c in the Mediterranean 48f :glasses
We might as well get used to extreme weather conditions as being a normal way of life.
Heatwaves will devastate large stretches of land and seas could rise by as much as a metre / 3.28ft placing coastal cities at risk to extreme flooding :indifferent
This is the clincher :scratch even if all nations fulfil their pledges to cut green-house gasses dramatically across this century, global warming will still continue unabated.
we're fucked !

Test Your Brain
ALZHEIMER'S EYE TEST
Count every "F" in the following text:

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI
FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS.....

HOW MANY ‘F’s?
Count them again.
WRONG !
THERE ARE 6 -- no joke..
Go Back and Try to find the 6 'F's before you scroll down.
The reasoning behind this is further down.
The brain cannot process "OF".
Anyone who counts all 6 on the first go is a genius.
Three is normal, four is quite rare.
Send this to your friends.
It will drive them crazy!
And keep them occupied
For several minutes..!

THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS.....

Piss Poor

Postby smartarse » Tue Nov 27, 2012 8:03 pm

Where did Piss Poor come from?

Urine was used to tan animal skins, families
used to all pee in a pot & then once a day it was taken &
Sold to the tannery.
if you had to do this to survive
you were "Piss Poor"

But worse than that if you were really poor and couldn't
even afford to buy a pot....then you "didn't have a pot to
piss in" !

about in the 1500s
Those with money had plates made of pewter.
Food with high acid content caused some of the lead to leach onto
the food, causing lead poisoning death. This happened
most often with tomatoes, so for the next 400 years or so,
tomatoes were considered poisonous.

Microwaving Water!
A 26-year old man decided to have a cup of coffee. He took a cup of water and put it in the microwave to heat it up (something that he had done numerous times before). I am not sure how long he set the timer for, but he wanted to bring the water to a boil.. When the timer shut the oven off, he removed the cup from the oven. As he looked into the cup, he noted that the! Water was not boiling, but suddenly the water in the cup 'blew up' into his face. The cup remained intact until he threw it out of his hand, but all the water had flown out into his face due to the buildup of energy. His whole face is blistered and he has 1st and 2nd degree burns to his face which may leave scarring.

He also may have lost partial sight in his left eye. While at the hospital, the doctor who was attending to him stated that this is a fairly common occurrence and water (alone) should never be heated in a microwave oven. If water is heated in this manner, something should be placed in the cup to diffuse the energy such as a wooden stir stick, tea bag, etc..., (nothing metal).
a power company says, microwaved water and other liquids do not always bubble when they reach the boiling point. They can actually get superheated and not bubble at all. The superheated liquid will bubble up out of the cup when it is moved or when something like a spoon or tea bag is put into it.
To prevent this from happening and causing injury, do not heat any liquid for more than two minutes per cup. After heating, let the cup stand in the microwave for thirty seconds! Before moving it or adding anything into it.

Here is what a science teacher had to say on the matter: I have seen this happen before. It is caused by a phenomenon known as super heating. It can occur any time water is heated and will particularly occur if the vessel that the water is heated in is new, or when heating a small amount of water (less than half a cup).
What happens is that the water heats faster than the vapour bubbles can form. If the cup is very new then it is unlikely to have small surface scratches inside it that provide a place for the bubbles to form. As the bubbles cannot form and release some of the heat has built up, the liquid does not boil, and the liquid continues to heat up well past its boiling point.
What then usually happens is that the liquid is bumped or jarred, which is just enough of a shock to cause the bubbles to rapidly form and expel the hot liquid. The rapid formation of bubbles is also why a carbonated beverage spews when opened after having been shaken.'

Pass this on :yes
