'Confessions of an alcoholic' - Page 151:

Although his drinking of alcohol was under control, Bundy’s behaviour and habits didn’t change at the same time. He was a dry-drunk for many years continuingly experiencing the same old habits always had while he was drinking alcohol without drinking alcohol. He didn’t know how to change. It wasn’t until he was medically discharged from the police force he learned of his destiny to become an alcohol and drug counsellor.
After twenty years as a Law Enforcement Officer he was suddenly thrown to the other end of the spectrum. He was thrust into helping his clients to recover from their alcoholism. He started at the bottom of the ladder as he’d done some twenty years before in the police force. This time he was much maturer discovering within himself a very deep-seated desire to help people like himself to recover from alcoholism.
Although he’d travelled a similar highway to his clients his knowledge of ‘what to do’ in helping them he had to learn. At first he thought everyone could stop drinking alcohol the same as he’d done so many years before. It was not the case. Bundy had a very specific reason for stopping whilst many of his clients couldn’t find a reason.
At the beginning of this journey he witnessed much pain and grief during his time at the ‘Detoxification Unit’. He wanted to put out his hand and help every one to make changes to their lives instead of trying to kill themselves with drinking alcohol. It was very tough times for Bundy.

'Confessions of an alcoholic' - Page 152:

Eventually, he studied counselling gaining the proper credentials to further his journey of helping others in overcoming their alcoholism. It was whilst studying this course he discovered his own lifetime personal unlaying issues. Bundy discovered he was a ‘RESCUER’. Once he understood this new discovery many events of his life returned to his mind, each signalling when he’d fallen into the habit of becoming a ‘RESCUER’. What a discovery to make. He had to undo and change his behaviour of being a ‘RESCUER’ before he could help anyone else. He had to first help himself.
This journey of self-discovery changed his whole life. He had at last shaken the shackles from his shoulders giving him a complete view of his horizons, which lay ahead. He had to learn not to ‘RESCUE’ people as he had done so well during his lifetime, but instead walk beside them and empower them to rescue themselves.
He started his newfound journey by building trust and honesty with Ada. His personal goal to be completely truthful with her and everyone else he came into contact with. It was a harsh lesson to learn, for over the many years he couldn’t tally the total number of times he’d made up stories or told untruths to Ada to safe guard himself from getting into trouble.
Eventually he overcome this issue and felt better about always telling the truth even if it hurt himself or the other person. He made a commitment to always be truthful and honest with everyone and meant being honest with him. Over the many years of Bundy’s drinking alcohol, he wasn’t very responsible or dependable. This was the next lesson he had to learn so he could become a much better person within himself so he could have self-control.
His major issue was becoming accountable for his actions. As a drunk he’d tell the most whopping lies to keep himself out of trouble. Now - he had to tell the truth every time.

'Confessions Of An Alcoholic' - Page 153:
Bundy used all of his self-discipline to learn a new way of becoming PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE. Up until this time he never realised the importance of being personally responsible for anything. It was a change he made which was so tough to make because he had to become personally responsible and tell the truth. He had to make a commitment he would at all times tell people what was on his mind instead of hiding his feelings.
His self-esteem skyrocketed together with his self-belief. For the very first time in his life he knew he was getting better and feeling more confident about what he was doing. His relationship between Ada and him strengthened to the degree of a deeper trust and love for one another leading onto honesty and ultimately intimacy. Bundy had never in his life before experienced such a feeling of intimacy with anyone. To experience a feeling of intimacy with anyone, is to lock one another’s minds together into the one motion, releasing the flow of love, trust, honesty and true feelings for one another is the ultimate experience for any human being.
Finally, he was rewarded with his desire to work as an alcohol and drug counsellor in his own community and rewarded many times he failed to count the rewards, only seeing his clients walk by themselves along the highway of their choice. To witness the changes made by his clients to improve their lifestyles for a better life than they had as an alcoholic, was reward enough.

'The Proposition' - Page 13:

‘Do you know how to switch on the computer?’ She asked.
‘There’s a switch here somewhere, isn’t there. Ah - here it is.’ Bundy switched on the computer to see the monitor flash alive with icons and a buzzing noise.
‘In the beginning I set up a data base to record the investigation. Click onto icon “missing child” and the file will come up. The password is Peter. The name of the child is Peter Clayton. He was twelve years old at the time.’ She expressed in a soft and concerned voice.
Bundy clicked on the icon and opened the file. Pages upon pages of documentation, times, dates, references, and other information glared from the screen. ‘How am I going to get up-to-speed with this?’ He asked.
‘Have you a computer at home?’ She asked.
‘Yes – why?’
‘I can download the file onto a USB and you can read it at your leisure at home. You don’t have to work here everyday. I can call you when I need you.’ Her voice softened.
‘You’re probably right. I can do that. It’ll take me awhile to read all of this and make notes. Is there any evidence of his whereabouts or if he’s alive?’ Bundy wanted to know.
‘Not yet. I’ve interviewed many people, I’m afraid there’s not much to go on. This investigation has been my life for eight years. I’ve lived, drank and eaten it.’ She answered.
‘A new set of eyes could make a difference.’ Bundy finished. His mind immediately flashed to 1975 when an elderly woman was murdered. His boss at the time after reading the running sheet identified a name which turned out to be the killer.

'The Proposition' - Page 64:

‘Wonderful, thank you, my batteries are re-charged and I’ve rearing to get back into it.’ Kate replied.

Chapter 8

Monday morning Kate arrived at the office earlier than she’d been before. She wanted to get re-started on the investigation, her mind ready for work. Bundy arrived at his usual time of eight o’clock.
‘How was the break Kate?’ He asked when he entered the office and saw Kate seated behind her desk clanging away on the keyboard of her computer.
‘Wonderful, thanks Bundy.’ She replied in a sweet voice. She rose from her seat and threw her arms around his neck and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Bundy felt embarrassed.
‘What was that for?’ He asked in a soft voice wiping the lipstick from the side of his cheek with his handkerchief.
‘I wanted you to know how pleased I am to work with you.’ She told him with a smile in her voice.
‘Thank you for your kind expression of appreciation but you must know we are work colleagues and I’ve never been shown such appreciation before – from a colleague that is.’ He muttered feeling embarrassed by the kind deed Kate performed.
‘Can’t a work colleague show her appreciation of what her work colleague does for her?’ She asked in a seductive voice emphasing the word ‘work’.
‘Yes – but don’t forget I’m old enough to be your father.’ Bundy replied.
‘Speaking of old enough – Mrs Elliott is old enough to be your mother. What’s going on there?’ She asked in an inquisitive voice.

'The Proposition' - Page 65:

‘Mrs Elliott is a fine lady – yes, she is old enough to be my mother, I agree. She’s warm and considerate, and a lovely person to know.’ He told her.
‘Yeah, she told me about you taking her to the tavern so she could play the poker machines.’
‘I put it down as my civic duty to keep her company. She’s lived a tough life and if I can do anything to help her enjoy the life she has now, then I’ll do it.’ Bundy felt humble and knew what he did for Mrs Elliott was nothing compared to what she did for him shortly after he lost his wife. It was a tough time for each of them. ‘Anyway, did you read the book I left?’ Bundy asked Kate.
‘Yes, I read it from cover to cover. Don’t ask me if I understand that humbo jumbo stuff because I don’t. Bundy - I look at facts and facts only.’ She made a statement.
‘Okay, thank you for reading it. At this stage it mightn’t be any help but as the investigation goes on it’ll come in handy, particularly with Mary.’
‘Why Mary?’ The question intrigued Kate.
‘While you’ve been absent enjoying yourself, Quincy and I have been doing important work.’ Bundy told her.
‘I can’t wait to hear about this – what is it you two have cooked up now?’ Kate rubbed her hands together in a gesture to find out more.
‘You remember before you went away we obtained a sample of hair and clothing from Mary to help identify Peter’s DNA?’ Bundy told her.
‘Yes – we took it to Quincy that afternoon. What happened?’
‘Quincy has his own laboratory in a shed on his property. You may remember the shed on the left hand side after we drove past the cattle yards. Well, he has discovered the DNA from the hair sample matched to samples of DNA from the clothing to prove it belonged to the same person.’ Bundy explained.
