A week long visit to Monplaisir in France.

A weeklong visit to Monplaisir in France.
After a short flight to Marseille airport we had an hour drive to lovely French town of Saints-Remy de Provence, this town is nestled between mountains and vineyards.
Not at all commercial, and with gorgeous restaurants and shops.
Plane trees line the streets that lead to cobbled alleyways overlooked by shuttered windows.
You can peruse the many boutique shops or sit outside a restaurant and take in the busy town square. In my opinion it’s just as you imagine a quaint French town to be.
Only a short ten minute walk away, down the road we had the pleasure of staying at the Monplaisir campsite.
A small long-time family owned campsite of 150 pitches and a handful of chalet style mobile homes. Our chalet was well maintained bright clean and air conditioned and just enough space to have as a base for the week.
We had a small terrace surrounded by olive trees which was perfect for barbequing in the evenings.
Each morning you can walk up to the onsite shop and purchase fresh croissants and pain  (bread) and chocolate and locally grown fresh fruit.
Most days we spent hours by the pool to cool off from the heat and whilst the pool is quite small it is plenty to keep the kids amused and we never struggled to get a sun bed.
A couple of evenings we ate in the site restaurant which had a selection of French dishes, pizzas & pasta’s... again the menu had just enough selections along with the family feel.
The site restaurant also has a bar where you can sit and watch the kids in the playground.
All staff members are helpful and friendly as are the other campers you meet at the pool each day or see around the site.
Overall our holiday was relaxing and pleasant with enough facilities to keep our gang entertained and being able to take in the French culture food & wine.
I am most definitely missing the lavender fields and local wine you can purchase in refillable bottles on the site for about 4 Euros a go.
I would definitely recommend this site to people who want to visit Provence and have a simple calm holiday.
