That was a good account of recent events :notworthy

Football is a good example of the saying "What goes round, comes round"

John Gregory is a breath of fresh air for the long suffering fans of Crawley Town and he does, indeed, seem to have the fans behind him :scarf

I won't dwell on Barker nor Coppell. Suffice it to say that I don't think either of them will be missed and heaven help Pompey with that dynamic dull duo. :indifferent

For the first time this season, I feel sufficiently motivated to go to a match. :scarf Crawley vs Bristol Rovers on Weds. 6 Jan if the originally abandoned, then postponed match does indeed take place :scratc Weather isn't looking good though.:thumbsdown

If it, hopefully, goes ahead then I'll report COYR :youreds :crawleyscarf

Hi footie fans since we last checked up on the fortunes of Crawley Town F.C the club bombed in the FA Cup second round replay against the Gasheads. 08/01 Whilst all was looking promising as the match progressed, and the reds were leading and stomping ahead towards a winning end game, when Two late goals saw Bristol Rovers come from behind to beat Crawley 2-1 in their FA Cup bid. Since that time the devils have been treading water :joker although not on the pitch after several matches were postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. On the 12/01 the reds pulled a two all draw when Crawley played away at the Sixfields Stadium against Coventry City.
Crawley Town assistant manager Guy Whittingham wrote:and who told BBC Surrey: A point is no more than we deserved.
"I think in the second half we were certainly the better side - their goal was against the run of play.
"But to pick ourselves, and for the substitutes to come on and work hard and get back into the game was really pleasing.
"We've seen that the players aren't willing to give up and there's a prove of good team spirit here."

On the 25/01 playing away at Rotherham Crawley came away with a 2 all draw
Crawley Town manager John Gregory told BBC Surrey:
"We're looking at our clocks and those five minutes [of extra time] have gone, and in that extra fifty seconds they go and equalise. It seemed like a lifetime for us and I was anticipating the referee to blow his whistle before [the goal].
"Rotherham are very direct but we dealt with everything they threw at us. We had opportunities to have gone 3-1 up and the game would've been over but they're things we are slowly learning and improving on.
"I look back at the 90 minutes and there were so many good things that we will build upon and slowly as a team we will improve week after week. There's a great resilience that runs through the team

Crawley took its first scalp since back ain December last, when the The Red Devils beat The Magpies by one goal to nil.
Away to Walsall at the Bescot Stadium Crawley won 2 goals to one
Crawley Town manager Richie Barker told BBC Sussex:
"It is disappointing that we let them back into the game - we should be shutting up shop and making sure it doesn't happen.
"That's probably five we've had cleared off the line in the last two weeks, and five or six off the woodwork, so we're not a million miles away.
"But there's no way we should be talking about this having been 2-0 up in the 88th minute."

Then Crawley played at Swindon on the 25/02 bagging 1-1 draw
Crawley manager John Gregory told BBC Surrey:
"Swindon Town have got second best home record in our league and we've come here and, in my opinion, more than matched them all over the field.
"There's a lot of disappointed faces in the dressing room, so that tells you the kind of standards the boys have set themselves and when they come to a place like Swindon and get a point.
"All in all, it's been a good couple of away performances against top-quality opposition and we are delighted that we've got something out of this game. My players showed great passion tonight."

Crawley beat Peterborough by one goal to nil
Crawley head coach Guy Whittingham told BBC Sussex:
"I thought we started the game really well and we had three chances in the first half and then we let them back into the game.
"Peterborough are always going to cause you problems.
"We maybe got that luck at the end when the ball was put into the box and it was a penalty. Matt Tubbs has been practising his penalties but not those ones."
"the pressure was on him from last week when you scored one and we felt he was going to bury it into the corner but he calmly chipped it over the keeper."

Overall The Devils have both improved on, and are comfortably positioned at 14 on the table.
Post, the pre Christmas shake-up, and with the new governor [47_47.gif] experiencing a marked improvement in the clubs fortunes, losing only two of the last 10 games,
This places the team roughly where they were positioned mid-season in 2013.
The only way is up :youreds
Tonight’s match against Stevenage 04/03 :scratc
The last time we clashed with the Boro boy,s the devils lost by 2 goals 2 to nil!
Placed in the relegation zone.and coupled with past performances :mz says Stevenage is up for the taking :kebab
:reddevils :punch Boro boys :3some

Hi mzawfers :aok

Post our last update re the fortune of :crawleyscarf :reddevils
Moving forward little comfort can be taken from the 1-1 scoredraw against, bottom of the table Stevenage, back on March 04th. :no
Now and with the benefit of hindsight , it turns out to be one of the few successes over the month of March.
It’s been a busy time for Gregory’s boys playing eight matches over this past month.
The highpoint was likely the win against league leaders, Wolves (2 -1 on 18/03). :notworthy
Bomb to the bottom team and then beat the league leaders, two extremes by far! :scratch
So apart from another draw against the Shrews, there doesn't appear to be a great deal to be excited about.
The remainder of the month’s games having resulted nothing much, losing to ; Gillingham, Colchester, Oldham, and Sheffield Utd and Preston N End to boot!
Following the recent back room shake up and stuff, in reality not a great deal has changed since Ritchie bailed out!
Note: Ritchie Barker has more recently, been given the boot from Portsmouth, and after only a short time, at the club’s helm.
Will lightening strike twice :scratc and the revamp back-room stuff turns out to be just ome more ? ‘white elephant’.
Over these past few years the club has been through several back room shake ups ‘slamming the car into reverse at full speed mentality’ approach “just don’t get it”!

Ultimately the game is decided on the pitch and the :reddevils have the potential to hold on in leageue one
Hopefully with Gregory at the helm fortunes will improve, all be it, slow in materialising!
Is :crawleyscarf only delaying the inevitable and are playing in a league above their weight? :scratc
Or is that just a load of waffle? :-D
Regardless of that :-D
Post all the reshuffling and admin stuff the devils are holding on in league one :youreds
With the next match to be away at Port Vale on April Fool Day, PV kicked our arse back in Oct 2013 three goals to zilch! regardless :-D I smell a scalp :yum
:youreds 0 -2 mzawf predicts
:mz

Hi to all you Red Devil Revellers :reddevils

01April – :joker
Crawley played away against Port Vale and lost, contrary to our positive stance at that time forecasting Crawley to win by two goals.
We got the number of goals correct although the wrong team scored them :thumbsdown

The team is up and down more than a fiddlers elbow :nopity

Post the not so distant Zenith :scratch :-D - beating Wolves back in March.. :aok

The Red devils played out five matches and losing them all, before a break in the trend, when Crawley beat the MK Dons two goals to nil. :crawleyscarf
The Club went on a roll from that point forward, by winning their next two games, both Tranmere and Leyton'O being beaten 2 goals to nil :crawleyscarf
Things appeared to be looking :clap :clap up. :thunbsup
Sadly, not to last! :confused
:football :football :football

Playing away and then losing to Notts County back on April21, and then losing away at Bradford on the26th. :angry
Next up Carlisle visit the C.A.T. stadium and need a win, to avoid relegation from division one.

Whilst Carlisle have everything to play for :yes and by coincidence Bristol City kicked Port Vale backside 5-0 back in March. :scratc
It would be great to finish this season on a high
:youreds :crawleyscarf :crawleyscarf :youreds

Gregory best quotes Nots County 1 Crawley 0 (21/04) "We seem to have a problem against teams in the lower half and I think it is a mental problem and it will need to be a lot better next season. :yes

Bradford 2 Crawley 1 (29/04) "But other people should take responsibility in that situation and it's something we need to spend time on in the summer."
And so say all of us :clap

Hi to all you Crawley FC supporters :reddevils
Post the last :mz blog re the fortunes of :crawleyscarf, where we predicted (more hoped) that the devils would finish the season in a blaze of glory thereby winning the final two matches. :confused
And with as all things in football, we all understand that few things go as expected. :no (The recent match- Liverpool v Crystal Palace stands testimony to this notion, after Liverpool let slip a 3-0 lead in the final 11 minutes ending with draw 3-3 draw).

The Red devils only managed a no score draw, against now relegated Carlisle (April29)
Plus when it all looked promising in the begining while playing at home against Bristol City, Crawley led by one goal :scarf until the second half play then, Crawley conceded the goal, which when the final whistle blew, 1-1 being the result (May01). Crawley finished 14th on the table at the season end.. :aok
Ten places below where the team started back in Aug 2013.

One of this seasons’ high points was repaying an earlier 2-1 defeat by The Wolves back in August 13, Ritchie Barker era, then beating Wolves 2-1 under John Gregory. :scratch (Wolves finished top of the table with a stomping 103 points)

Still :crawleyscarf have a continuing backroom shake up and on all accounts a reduction in numbers (boots on the ground) both on and off the pitch is forecast for this summer.

Head Coach Guy Whittingham contract has been terminated.
Gregory’s contract has been extended to 2016.

It has been stated tough financial decisions will influence the club as they move forward towards next season kicks off. :firey
Teamwise
BILLY CLARKE, MARK CONNOLLY, PAUL CONNOLLY, GARY DICKER, RORY FALLON
Goalie PAUL JONES, LOUIS JOHN, JOHNNY MADDISON, ALEX MALINS, JONTE SMITH and SERGIO TORRES are to leave the club.
We wish them good fortune for the future :applause
DANNIE BULMAN, MIKE JONES, JAMIE PROCTOR, MAT SADLER have until the end of May to accept or decline the clubs offer.
:football :football :football
BRADLEY ISAACS, RYAN RICHEFOND, ANDY DRURY, CONNOR ESSAM, KYLE McFADZEAN, JOSH SIMPSON, JOE WALSH are already under contract for next season. :football
Rookies BRADLEY ISAACS, RYAN RICHEFOND are in to boot :football
With all the uncertainty surrounding the club and forthcoming summer reshaping it will certainly make for interesting times ahead. :scratc
:youreds
john Gregory wrote: "There will be new faces and I’m sure our fans will be as supportive of them as they have of the players who have served this football club so well in the past.”

2,3,4 come on u reds

Postby mzawf » Tue May 17, 2016 4:43 pm

A sense of déjà vu is a buzzing down at the CAT stadium, with yet another shakeup in progress.
Changes at board level down to the pitch have been facilitated.
After a lengthy wait (2013) The Club now have a new owner, who, and if you believe some of the reports!
Purchased the club for the sum of a £1.00 ‘Club statment, 'deposit paid to the solicitors.’ :rotfl
What is the deposit on £1? Personally I could have got them a better price, and paid in cash.

A source did report that the president of a TFF first division team (Kayseri Erciyesspor) may have invested as much as €4 million / £3.1. In Crawley Town F.C

Chairman Ziya Eren, a successful Turkish Businessman and guiding influence to Kayseri Erciyesspor since 2011.
Clearly, Ziya Eren, has a passion for football on the pitch and a sound vision for the clubs future.
Kayseri Erciyesspor, winning the TFF First league 2012/2013, and then playing the Turkish Super league, 2013/2015.
Ziya, has targeted Crawley to reach the Championship in eight to 10 years.

Following last season’s relegation to the 2nd division campaign success and feel good factors has been in short supply
With the club finishing in the lower section of the table, the Red Devils fortunes have been gloomily mixed.
44 games in Lg2 Lost 23 Won 13 and Drew 8
Putting a positive spin on the final games
Closing matches next up Dag Red (The Daggers)
:mz predicts this should result a comfortable away win,!
This prior to when Barnet (The Bees) visit the CAT Stadium for the end of season ‘finale’
:mz predicts the win over Barnet, based on recent performance
- York v The Bees 1-1 - Morecambe 4 – Barnet 2- vie-a-vis, Crawley 2 York 2 and Crawley 1-1 Morecambe, Come on you Reds a result to carry the team onwards to future glory. :rotfl
Alas again it all turned to wasted-hope again and as is a reflection on the apathy felt when trying to write a positive account, on the Fortunes of the Crawley Town F.C.
Likely best just to move on, on! It’s been a mixed bag since steveizy started writing up on the devils by steveizy » Sun Oct 03, 2010 8:08 pm.
Looking at the picture as a whole, regardless being of great interest it’s still, a downward slide.
After reaching the nadir on a scale of one to ten
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadir
‘The only way is up’
I’m all blogged out and looking towards a brighter future

“And so say all of us”! Come on You Reds :crawleyscarf
First step back to league one
2 3 4 here we go
:youreds

Hats off to all of you dedicated Red Devils fans for your unwavering and continued support for the team.
It's been tough , the team blagged it!
With good result in short supply.
No point in Picking over ‘the bones’
The only way is up :thunbsup :aok :scarf :crawleyscarf

Not quite Barclays Premier League yet but CTFC are top of the Blue Square Premier League by 3 points after 13 games. Promotion at the end of the season would earn them a place in the football league.

They have a tough match away at Luton on Tues. but whatever the result the 3 point buffer will help.

I say - let's all get behind them

"GO ON CRAWLEY"!
