The :reddevils appear to be experiencing tougher times of late, although, the recent win against Chelmsford saw Crawley Town advance to Round Three of the FA Cup.
To play alongside the Premier League giants, a welcome respite for supporters.
Crawley Town have in recent weeks struggled to maintain the earlier successes of the season, when they won 8 out of the first eleven matches played :thunbsup
Vis a vie winning six out of the last eleven played. :scratc
Next up to the line is Shrewsbury :clap (The Blues).
:crawleyscarf recent form, makes me think this match will go either way :scratch but I hope on the day, Crawley will bag a win and those much needed points :scarf :scarf :scarf
I'm sure that the Crawley Town football family will be in attendance to cheer the team along, and banging the drum :-D :clap :crawleyscarf :clap
As we move forward to the halfway point in this seasons matches, a bumper year is still up for the take !
We look forward to your updates steveizy (an official CTFC family member) on the fortunes of Crawley Town FC.
Love your blog :yes thanks for sharing it with :mz

Crawley 2 Shrewsbury 2

Another poor performance to report. After taking the lead from a first minute goal, by midfielder Josh Simpson, Crawley seemed to think it was going to be a pushover against the struggling Shrews and eased off. Big mistake. By half time we were 1-2 behind. The second half wasn't great and only the 81st minute equaliser from Josh, again, salvaged a point.

We are poor in defence - often mistakes gifting our opponents and our strikers seem to have forgotten what the goal looks like. Apart from Gary Alexander scoring from a penalty recently, he nor any other striker has scored since Preston North End way back in September! Clearly something is not right but week after week Richie Barker persists in starting Gary Alexander despite calls from the fans to give big John Akinde a start. John isn't famed for finding the net himself but must be worth a try over Alexander. You get 100% effort from big John and he does cause havoc with defences - neither attribute would suit Alexander recently :thumbsdown

This draw along with other recent results sees us slip to 10th place in league one, so we are still in a reasonable position all things considered but we will continue with our downward slide unless the team can start defending and scoring goals.

Enough doom and gloom, on Saturday we are off to Stevenage - a club with a similar recent history to us. They are fifth in the table so we will have our work cut out there and only luck or a change or two to our team will see us come away with anything! Hopefully I'll be able to report some good news next week!

Stevenage 1 Crawley 2

At last! Something to celebrate for us as The Reds took all three points at Broadhall Way yesterday after a close fought second half. A better performance by The Reds, and a little luck!

First half was more Stevenage and Jones was called on for a few good saves. We had a few chances too but at half time the teams went in 0-0.

Our heads went down on the 55th minute when their Robin Shroot put them ahead. Oh dear... 1-0 down. But Crawley fought back having several shots on goal before Hope Akpan netted from a rebound after their keeper made a save 1-1! That was in the 65th minute. Four minutes later Dannie Bulman took a long drive at goal that their keeper reacted to, the shot took a slight deflection off the head of a Boro player and blasted into the net past the wrong-footed keeper :rotfl Stunning goal to watch, as I did, from directly in line behind the goal. 2-1.

Boro continued to put us under pressure but Crawley weren't giving in. Paul Jones was called on to make a couple of good saves in the closing minutes. FT 1-2 :drink

Yet again both of our goals came from midfielders and our main striker Gary Alexander was anonymous throughout another game. The club has recently taken our promising youngster Jonte Smith back from being out on loan to the Metropolitan Police team where he has been outstanding and their top scorer. Jonte was on the bench yesterday and fans were eagerly awaiting a cameo but Barker stubbornly stuck with Gary Alexander for the whole match. Maybe next week we will get to see Jonte with big John Akinde, maybe the moon is made of cheese...

The three points keep us in 10th place in League One but it is very tight - our 35 points sees us just six short of Tranmere who are top and just two short of the playoff zone. Table places will shuffle around in the coming weeks and perhaps we have had our bad run and can start winning again. Certainly yesterday gave us a bit of a shot in the arm.

One of the season's biggest matches for us comes to Broadfield when giants Sheffield United come here on Saturday. This is a big match in all respects, they are presently third in the table. They will bring huge support being still a huge club. I'm looking forward to this one with added enthusiasm after yesterday!

:scarf :crawleyscarf :scarf COME ON YOU REDS! :scarf :crawleyscarf :scarf

The fortunes of Crawley Town FC have been up and down more than a fiddlers elbow :joker
Since our last update the :reddevils have experienced a varying degree of outcomes :scratc
Losing at home 2 goals to nil to Sheffield Utd Dec 22nd.
Bagging a good result away to Portsmouth with a 2-0 win :clap
The reds experienced a trouncing away at Bournemouth losing 3-0 on the 29th Dec :cry Coincidentally, Bournemouth thrashed Yeovil 3 goals to nil, three days earlier on the 26th Dec :-D
A good start in the new year saw :crawleyscarf win against Colchester 3-0 (a bit of a three thing happening here) :yes
Next we saw the Barkers boy exiting the Fa cup and losing on home turf, yes you guessed, 3 goals to one, losing to premier team Reading :confused
Losing to Tranmere Rovers 2-0 on the 12th of January and, that alongside a postponed match (frozen pitch) :crawleyscarf v Carlisle (today 19th Jan)
Sort of, sums it all up ! :-D
Note: our last meeting with the Cumbrians, away, when, the :reddevils won a comfortable 2 goals to nil :clap :mz smells a scalp :kebab

:crawleyscarf have done exceptionally well to date and are currently paced at ninth in the table, with several more months of footy to be played before the final whistle :unionjack :youreds .

The fortunes of :crawleyscarf
Swindon drew 1 - 1 when they visited Crawley on the 02 Feb an improvement on the trouncing the :reddevils recieved :heart valantines day :heart 2012
A match decided on penalties, Swindon had to come from behind after captain Alan McCormack felled Nicky Adams in the box, and Billy Clarke scored from the spot. :crawleyscarf Joe Walsh conceded the second-half penalty when he pushed over Adam Rooney, and the striker then equalised the match.
Substitute Rooney, on loan from Birmingham, was lively in front of goal, and would have slid home a second had goalkeeper Paul Jones not executed a brilliant one-handed save.
This outcome means Swindon now drop to fourth on the League One table - five points from the automatic promotion places - while Crawley slip to 14th :angry :cry :drink :indifferent
On a home turf point, I heard a story of late about a staunch :crawleyscarf supporter who was reported to the club for an over zealous shout from the terraces
Directed at (not solely to) an over zealous Afro-Asian English :scratch lines-person after what fans had deemed several bad calls.
I suspect throughout the home terraces there most definitely was some cussing going on :angry
Anyway this individual who just happens to be a season ticket holder a staunch :scarf supporter says "you monkey" and is reported to club officials and handed down a five year ban. I tell you it's true :yes a bloody five year ban.
I hope that the club sees sense and recognises that it's somewhat of a knee-jerk reaction to a situation that has historically been a part of the game.
It's called banter, maybe if all of the other Crawley supporters who voiced an utterance in fun at that time, post it to the club :rotfl
Here at :mz: we think the ban has been served to the wrong person/persons whoever made this complaint, should, subsequently receive a ban for bringing the fans into disrepute. :joker (the linesman was and likely oblivious to these goings on) Plus whoever made the original decision re a 5 year ban.
(Get a Life !)
It's the 21st Century
Crawley are away at Sheffield on the 05th
:youreds go out
:weapons a blazing
:mz

Ollie Olly Ollie mzawfers and Crawley town FC supporters
Things seem to be going a bit Pete Tong after losing to Scunthorpe Utd 2 - 1 :indifferent
A complete turnaround from :crawleyscarf 3 -0 victory back in August 2012.
After a goalless first half Crawley took the lead after a power-shot from midfielder Matt Sparrow found it's mark :scarf

Sparrow joined the Reds back in January moving from Brighton Seagulls, with a contract that will run till the end of this season
Matt played with Scunthorpe for nine years before a move to Brighton in 2010.
Back to the match :aok The Iron were back in the fray midway through the second half when Jimmy Ryan scored from close in.
Scunthorpe took the lead back 12 minutes from time as Niall Canavan rose highest and headed the ball home.
2 goals to one game over :thumbsdown
Crawley Town boss Richie Barker told BBC Sussex
"We were unlucky, but to be fair to Scunthorpe they scored two decent goals. We should have done better with our opportunities.
"At times I thought we were the better side, but it is going to take a while for these teams to blend, especially when the season is so stop start. I expect the players to be fresh for the game, and they've been fantastic in training this week, that's why this is so disappointing."
:youreds
Now positioned 15th in the table and five short steps from the relegation zone the :reddevils need to get back on track.
for Doncaster's visit to the Broadfield on the 18th of February.
Some comfort might be taken from the fact that, Donny only managed a draw against the MK Dons on Tuesday just gone, and
Crawley secured a 2 goals to nil victory over the Dons back in October 2012.
With a new striker on loan to Crawley from Millwall Utd , 19 year old Aiden O'Brien and with the seasons end rolling in. (10 weeks)
Barkers Boys have plenty of work still to do so as to consolidate their position in the league one table.
We have faith :notworthy :youreds

Crawley ends The Glovers recent winning streak after second half fight back resulting in a 2-2 draw at full-time
:youreds

Yeovil took the lead in the first half of the match when Byron headed the ball home, converting a pass from Ben Edwards. Next a goal from Paddy Madden put Yeovil ahead at half time.
A break in the fortune of Crawley came early in the second half when Joe Walsh (free bird) :-D converted a free kick by Matt Saddler. Sparrow, then completed a red devils comeback scoring the equalizer :applause
Onwards, at this point,, both teams had a chance to take the lead, both hitting the ‘woodwork’, the final outcome, a draw :crawleyscarf
It might be said that the :reddevils are "holding their own” considering that the past three matches have resulted two score draws and one no score draw. Nil Nil against the Magpies 09/03, 1-1 score draw with the Cumbrians 05 March.
An away win against the 'The Shakers’ back in early March this alongside the one nil victory away to Leyton Orient (The O's ) way on back in February.
One One draw to Doncaster to boot ! :wub
Crawley has lost once in the last seven matches :aok Brentford v Crawley 2-1
After all this, footballing action, Crawley now sits a comfortable 12th. in league one.
My guess is that Crawley will finish mid –table ish :glasses when the wholesome lady sings at the season’s end.
With some big games ahead who knows? It’s in the lap of the Gods :notworthy
:youreds
