Morecambe 6 Crawley 0

Oh dear!

Crawley were outplayed in all departments in this top of the table clash. Admittedly, Crawley have injury problems and Steve Evans had to put together a side that included new 'emergency signing' Scott Griffiths from Peterborough (who played quite well considering the few days he had to train with the club) and reserves in our midfield/defence.

We were behind after 9 minutes as Carlton scored his first of what would become a hat trick, then again after 22 mins as Fenton got another. HT Morcambe 2- Crawley 0. Down by 2 goals at half-time is not great but many games have been won from that position in the past. Today wasn't going to be one of those.

After a brighter start it wasn't long before things turned bad for The Reds as Carlton got his 2nd after 62 minutes, then Elison on 69 mins, before Carlton completed his hat trick on 72 mins. Ten minutes saw The Reds concede three goals and any hope of a comeback.was gone. To add insult to injury, we gave them a penalty which was duly converted by Wilson in the 84th minute and that was that.

Dreadful result but we have to bounce right back for the big match against Swindon which Evans has dubbed "Di Canio's circus coming to town" Evans made those comments to wind-up Di Canio - who seems somewhat volatile - when Crawley were on a roll. Maybe he is regretting them now. Tuesday will see :yes

Crawley 3 Bradford City 1

Crawley are back to winning ways after the recent run of disastrous results!

A game of two halves has never been a truer statement. Bradford opened the scoring after just twelve minutes as our defence slipped up and allowed Reid a soft goal. Oh dear again! Murmurs were circulating around amongst the fans about how poor the defence was and how the game was going to be yet another defeat :thumbsdown The score remained 0-1 until half-time.

I don't know what Steve Evans said or did during the interval but whatever it was had the desired effect. The Crawley team that emerged for the second half, with no substitutions, was a different team, reminiscent of the real Crawley that we are all used to watching or reading about :thumbsup

Bradford were totally outclassed by The Reds from the whistle, instead of hoofing long balls hopefully forward, we started to play the passing game on the ground and building moves. It wasn't long before this paid off. Man of the Match, in just about everyone's eyes Tyrone Barnett, headed home from a beautiful Tubbs cross. The Broadfield erupted wildly :applause

We kept them under continuous pressure with hardly a Bantams excursion into our half as we piled on attack after attack and eight minutes after the equaliser new signing and débutante Andy Drury put us ahead with a well taken goal from close range. Well done Andy :blob8 Great stuff :thumbsup By now The Broadfield was really buzzing like it used to. Crawley had put the recent problems behind and were back on a roll :scarf :mexican :scarf

Bradford held out for most of the remainder of the half under siege until the 88th minute when Tyrone Barnett showed his class again when he evaded a defender then their goalkeeper to leave himself a sidefoot into their open goal - Simply brilliant!

It's been an interesting week - with the injury crisis, Steve Evans has had to do a fair bit of business on the Loan market as the Transfer window is closed until January. This has resulted in five new signings all at short notice. With little or no time for the new players to gel with the team, it is amazing that the team did indeed gel. By the second half today, things were starting to work and a bit more time together with the squad will work wonders.

Back to a reasonable 5th place in League 2 after beating what was a Premiership club a decade ago, Crawley have done well and will be a contender for promotion this season if they continue like they did in the 2nd half today :punch

Aldershot Town 0 - Crawley Town 1

Great result for us today as we bounce back into form! Away wins are even nicer :-D

I took a coach from The Half- Moon to the EBB Stadium, also known as The Recreation Ground. Strange place, quite dated with a walk through a park for us away fans to this highly segregated stadium. First impressions aside, it is actually a good stadium with a great atmosphere that allowed us to be in full voice throughout the match as everything seemed amplified by the stadium design! We out sang and out insulted their fans for the whole match :applause

Back to the game and I apologise for using the worn-out cliché about this being a game of two halves... yet again! But it was just that.

The first half saw both teams finish equal 0-0 and, if anything, The Shots probably had the better chances.

I'm not sure why this happens, but Crawley seem to perform much better after the break. It can only really be because they get told the error of their ways by Steve Evans :censored

Crawley came out flying for the second half, winning most of the possession, keeping the ball down, playing passing moves and creating chances. This worked. Aldershot were pinned into their half most of the time.

On 64 minutes, Tyronne Barnett got the decider from a Doughty cross, my view was obstructed by one of the pillars that support the stadium roof but the ball was in the net and that was all that mattered! The Reds kept pushing and we had several more chances in the remaining time while Aldershot and their fans were subdued.

FT 0-1 and a great away result that lifts us up to fourth on goal difference in League 2.

Great afternoon out with pleasant company on the coach and a very important win behind us :blob8

Next-up is against Plymouth Argyle at The Broadfield on Sat. 1st October. Plymouth currently reside at the bottom of the table and could accurately be described as a "Club in Crisis" However, this week the man blamed for their problems, Peter Ridsdale announced that he is dropping his attempt to take the club over. This seems to have given them a bit of a boost as Plymouth unexpectedly beat Macclesfield for their first win of the season  I still think we will take the points though :yes
